Most Outstanding Retirement Development in the UK 

Conroy Brook was last week announced as winners of ‘The Most Outstanding Retirement Apartment Development in the UK 2011’ for its already award-winning Holme Valley Court complex, also in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

The awards celebrate and reward excellence in the UK over 50s housing sector, and acknowledge those who lift and enhance the customer experience. From 723 entries, 261 additional nominations, anonymous inspections and hours of research and evaluation, Holme Valley Court was chosen as ‘the most outstanding exemplar’ in the category.

Sales executive for the development, Pat Mead (pictured left), who collected the prestigious award alongside colleague Christine Jackson (pictured right) at the ceremony in Westminster, London on 24th November, said: “We are all incredibly proud to have received this fantastic accolade for Holme Valley Court. We always place great emphasis on building homes of the highest quality, but which also take into consideration the needs of those who will reside in them, so to be rewarded for this is fantastic.”

Chief Executive of Conroy Brook, Richard Conroy, added: “Achieving this success at Holme Valley Court confirms that our approach to designing and building retirement homes, as outlined by Pat, is working. 

We aim to build on this achievement with our next proposed scheme, Prickleden Mills also in Holmfirth, which goes in for planning this month.”

Holme Valley Court was built in the grounds of the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital, with views of landscaped gardens and the beautiful Holme Valley. Designed specifically to cater for the needs of the over 50s, facilities include full disabled access, eight person lift, communal lounge, patio and garden areas (with outdoor seating, water features, artwork and lighting), two guest bedrooms for visitors and 24 hour careline alarm call system.

In addition each apartment also has a video-phone entry system and burglar alarm, whilst the complex itself has building CCTV, and has been designed for maximum comfort and security.

Awards won by this prestigious development include Commercial New Build from the Federation of Master Builders Awards and West Yorkshire Built in Quality Awards.
