Planning application approved for Conroy Brook’s Upperthong development

We are delighted to announce that our recently re-submitted plans for the development of 27 homes in Upperthong has been approved.

The resubmission followed refusal of planning permission by the local council last year, despite recommendations for approval from Kirklees planning officers. However as a consequence of Kirklees Council withdrawing their Core Strategy, and being unable to demonstrate a 5 year supply of deliverable housing land to meet identified need, the reasons for refusal by the planning committee of the original application were no longer valid.

CEO of Conroy Brook, Richard Conroy, said: “We are extremely pleased that our planning application for Upperthong has finally been approved, and we are looking forward to moving forward with the QSH Rent to Buy model, and delivering this innovative, affordable housing scheme to the local Upperthong community.”

The proposed development of 27 new homes includes 15 two and three bed terraced and semi-detached houses, that would be affordable housing targeted at local first time buyers and families with a ‘rent to buy’ model that aims to get them on the housing ladder.

The remaining 12 properties will be detached 4 bed open market homes. All properties will be built to the high quality standards we are renowned for.
