Leeds care home is a finalist for major national design awards
Augustus Court residential care home in Leeds has been nominated for a major national design award.
Kirklees Council has granted Meridian Healthcare and Conroy Brook planning permission for a new £4.5million care centre in Denby Dale.
The new facility will meet the rising demand for excellent quality care in the area around Denby Dale and Kirkburton. Across Kirklees as a whole, the ageing population is set to rise by around 33% over the coming 10 years.
The new care home is on the site of a former animal feed mill on Wakefield Road in Denby Dale, which has been demolished to make way for the new building (roadside view pictured).
Construction starts this month and will ultimately create around 50 new jobs for Denby Dale. Facilities for residents will include large bedroom suites, a skype internet lounge, spa and hairdressing salon.
The stunning modern facility is scheduled for completion in autumn 2014 and has been specially designed to provide superb living and bedroom accommodation for older people.
Susan Firth, Meridian’s managing director commented: “We’re delighted to start building work. There is significant demand for modern luxurious care facilities in the area from families who are often caring for a relative at home.” She continued: “We believe our Premiere care homes are unrivalled in the quality of the finish and accommodation provided. The Millbrook in Tameside won Best Design for the Elderly at the prestigious national Pinders Design Awards in 2012, with The Oakes in Huddersfield a finalist in 2013.”
Award-winning Holmfirth developer, Conroy Brook, has been working in partnership with Meridian Healthcare for the last four years to bring this site to fruition, which is the latest project in a successful working relationship between the parties. Conroy Brook previously developed The Oakes in Huddersfield, a residential and dementia care home and White Rose House Nursing Home in Holmfirth.
CEO of Conroy Brook, Richard Conroy, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Meridian again on another state-of-the-art care facility. We recognised the potential in this brownfield site, and the benefits that a new care home would bring to the local community of Denby Dale and Kirklees, and knew that the team at Meridian would be the best people to deliver an outstanding care centre.”
